The donation is to cover the cost of the secondary education of the supported students.

The bank has so far donated  a total of about GH¢50, 000  to needy students.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank, Mr Kofi Agyeman, who made the donation said so far, 40 such students with poor financial background had benefited from the banks’ gesture.

“Our aim is to promote education in our catchment areas and reward our shareholders and customers who have helped to grow the bank,” he stated.

He said some of the students that had benefited from the banks scholarship scheme from its six branches were currently gainfully employed at the various governmental and non-governmental organisations.

“It is a delight to see that our efforts are yielding the desired dividends,” Mr Agyeman stated and expressed the hope that the current six beneficiaries would follow the footsteps of their predecessors by taking advantage of the scholarship to work hard to achieve higher academic laurels.

He said both customers and shareholders of the bank were one family and gave the assurance that the bank would continue to use part of its profits to award scholarships to their children in order to lift some burdens off their shoulders.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Master Emmanuel Amoako-Atta, a second-year student of the Yamfo Anglican Senior High School, thanked the bank for its gesture and promised that they would work hard to justify the investment in their education.

“I am particularly grateful because the scholarship will ensure that i have a smooth senior high school education,” he said, explaining that it had been very difficult for his father who is on pension to pay his school fees.

Master Amoako-Atta called on Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of saving to enable them to be able to fall on their savings in time of need.

He also urged students to learn how to save from their pocket monies since that could help them accumulate some capital to start their own businesses in future.
