The forum was to introduce the apps challenge to students of the university and others from some senior high schools (SHS) in the Tamale metropolis.

The apps competition is opened to universities, SHSs, individuals and teams who would enter as freelance.

There is a total of more than Ghc300,000 in cash and other prize items for winners of the competition.

Madam Fiamor also tasked students to create apps that talks about religious beliefs and teachings so that others can learn about it.

The occasion was also used to clarify issues concerning the operations of MTN and its services for students.

Mr Stephen Asare, the Northern Regional Manager of MTN Mobile Money cautioned the students and the general public about some fraudulent messages purported to be coming from MTN but which was aimed at defrauding customers.

He urged customers to always cross check information requesting them to part with money with MTN to avoid being defrauded.

The MTN Apps challenge was first launched in 2013 with the objective to empower local developers and encourage apps with local content.
