Little Drops Farm wins second edition of Entrepreneurship challenge

 Little Drops Farms, dealers in poultry farming has won the second edition of the Entrepreneurship Challenge. The challenge is organised by Always Seek Knowledge (ASK) Network, an entrepreneurial group within Royalhouse Chapel International (RCI).

The challenge aims at mentoring and assisting young, up-and-coming entrepreneurs to start their own businesses.

Team Little Drops defending their proposal

Team “Little Drops” making up of Messrs Stephen Amlalo, David Sarkodie and Daniel Sarkodie took home GH¢ 15,000 as seed capital for their project.

Making a case, the group said they are strategically located at James Town in the Greater Accra Region, hence they were well positioned to capture both the Ghanaian and international markets.

They explained that would engaged hotels, religious bodies during their festive period, the citizens and also exporting some of the products.

The group admitted that although they had already started the project, things had not been easy since they lacked the capital to acquire the necessary equipment to ensure the poultries were safe.

Announcing the winner at RCI’s World Movers Generation (WMG) annual Movers & Shakers Conference held at the University of Ghana, Legon, a founding member of the ASK Network, Pastor Paapa Korankye Ankrah said the competition was put together for young people to pitch their business ideas to a panel of successful entrepreneurs to win a seed capital to kick start their business.

The Mover and Shakers Conference brought together over 10,000 Christians youth to praise and worship God as well as undergo training on entrepreneurship among others.
Applications

According to Pastor Paapa Korankye Ankrah, the Entrepreneurship Challenge 2017 received hundreds of startup applications after which the top 6 were selected.

He said each team was given five minutes to present their proposal after which their works was scrutinised by a panel of judges.

Judges

The judges included the Chief Executive Officer of SGL Royal Kapital, Dr. Bernard Dumanya, the Chief Executive Officer of Lec group, Mr Albert Kusi, the Head of Personal Banking of Universal Merchant Bank, Mr Jeffery Odame Yeboah, a Diplomat of Commonwealth of Nations, Mr John Apea, and Mr Kojo Hastings of Genelec Group.

In an address, the Apostle General of the RCI, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, underscored the importance of investment in the younger generation.

He added that the youths were the pillars of hope and the strength for the nation, the continent and the world, adding that they, therefore, need to be supported in all their endeavours.

Touching on the first edition, the Apostle General said there had been an increase in the seed capital from GH¢10,000 to GH ¢15,000.

The rest of the finalists namely, Kaelom farms, Many colours paintings, House of Yoko, dream laboratory and medglobal were each awarded GH¢ 2,000 as consolation prizes.
