GNPC gets two deputy CEOs

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has appointed Mr Thomas Manu and Kwame Ntow Amoah to the positions of deputy chief executives in charge of Exploration & Production and Commercial and Corporate Services respectively.

The appointments take immediate effect according to a press release from the corporation.

"The appointments are part of the continuous roll-out of GNPC’s evolving organisational structure in line with corporate strategy and future direction," it said.

The two are expected to aid the board of directors and the CEO, Mr Alex Mould, to properly prosecute the agenda of the corporation which hinges on becoming a world class national oil company with enviable operations in and outside the country.

Prior to the appointment, Mr Manu, an Exploration Geophysicist, was the Director of Operations at the GNPC. His colleague, Mr Amoah, was the Manager of the Corporate Strategy and New Business Department of the corporation.

The statement explained that Mr Manu would have oversight of the Projects, Geosciences, Engineering and Research Technology & Development directorates of the GNPC.

He has over 25 year’s experience in the upstream oil and gas with specific technical expertise in interpretation of seismic and geological data sets, basin analysis, prospect definition, exploration concepts and field development.  

"Thomas steered the development and progress of GNPC’s exploration strategy, acreage promotion strategy and development of all associated policies, including acreage sizes, categorisation of companies and application evaluation criteria. He has been the key technical person for the Ghana Negotiation Team," the statement said.

He holds a Master of Science degree in Geophysics from the Institute of Exploration Geology, Moscow, Russia, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ghana, Legon.

Mr Amoah, on the other hand, boasts over 25 years experience in corporate strategy formulation and negotiating large-scale oil and gas agreements.

He has worked on many high level committees in the country, including the Presidential Committee on the National Petroleum Policy (2008). He also chaired the National Gas Pricing Policy Committee (2011), which among other things, set the prices at which Ghana's first gas resources would be sold.

He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GNPC-Technip Engineering Services Limited.

He holds an MBA in General Management from IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland and a BA (Hons) degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana, Legon.
