We thank Vodafone Business Solutions for its belief that a vibrant and significant Small Medium Enterprises (SME) is key to their business and in satisfying their customer base.

We also, want to thank our other partners, the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), which is our academic partner. To First National Bank, Premium Bank, KEK Insurance, Phoenix Insurance, The National Investment Bank, Graphic Business, Joy Fm, BTA TV and all our media partners including you.

Further appreciation goes to the over fifteen assembled speakers we will be having over the two (2) day conference that is Thursday 13th – Friday 14th October 2016.

Business is changing and has been evolving each and every day. It is easy to stay on the fence and enjoy the savings you have made in the past till it hits you one day. Ghana and for that matter Africa, stands at the precipices of a giant awakening that our resource can soon become our nightmare.

Whiles the rest of the world is slowing down, Africa stands a great chance to rise above the fray because of the peculiar challenges we encounter, which are in themselves business opportunities. Our ability to withstand these changes will hinge on how resilient our businesses become and for that matter our small businesses.

Here at the African SME organization, we define small medium enterprises as any organization whether for profit or nonprofit engaged in economic activities with an annual revenue base of up to thirty million dollars ($30,000,000) and employing up to 300 people.

The stratification is as below:

"These are the businesses which hold the future of our economies, however they are under threat. New developments in new media, human genome, artificial intelligence, internet of things, 3 D printing and many others pose a grave challenge for them. Their ability to confront these will depend on three keys issues;

• are business leaders and managers willing to be EXPOSED to new technology and discussions of change,

• will they be able to be EDUCATED on current issues and the new wind blowing and

• will they be nimble enough to take ACTION?

So this year, we discuss, ENTREPRENEURSHIP – BECOMING A READY BUSINESS. The issues to be discussed include but not limited to:

1. How does the small business owner lead in a disruptive and chaotic environment?

2. How do businesses use technology to innovate?

3. How do businesses retain and sell to the new savvy customer?

4. How do businesses become sustainable through the implementation of proper corporate governance strategies?"
