Data Protection Commission gets new head

The Executive Director of the Data Protection Commission (DPC), Madam Patricia Adusei-Poku, has assumed office.

A release issued by the Ministry of Communications in Accra said she has taken up the position with a “unique blend of executive acumen, global teamwork with strong operational and front-line experience in Information Governance and expertise in Data Protection Programme Management.”

It also said with a good experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors globally coupled with her recent appointments which included the Head of Data Protection at the London 2012 Olympic Games and Global Director for Data Protection & Privacy at World Vision International, she was apt for the job.

The release said Madam Adusei-Poku holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA - Project Management & Consultancy) and a BSc (Hons) Computing Science degree. She is also a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) issued by the globally recognised International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), Certified Practitioner in European Union General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR).

Madam Adusei-Poku, in her first meeting with the staff of the commission, pledged her commitment to ensure a conducive working environment.
