He explained that cybercrime posed a lot of challenges to the technological development in the world, hence the need for the government to collaborate with other governments to fight the canker.

“Cybercrime is borderless in nature and poses real challenges to all countries. Its transnational nature requires the concerted efforts of all users of cyberspace in addressing it,” Mr Makwana told the Daily Graphic after an event over the weekend in Accra.

Introduction of ARCOS

The event was to introduce the ARCOS Privileged Access Management Solutions to players in the information technology industry in the country.

He observed that ARCOS was a computer software solution, which provides a security blanket that sites on top of all operating systems and database.

Touching on the key features of the software, Mr Makwana said ARCOS provided comprehensive audit trails and session recordings to ensure that all activities were tracked and these logs were encrypted and separately stored creating a legal hold.

“ARCOS management console supports virtual grouping of users and resources thus providing a flexible architecture to allow management of multiple companies or multiple subsidiaries,” he stated.

He added that the software has a unique technology framework which helps in providing granular access control for privileged users. The access control feature helps organisations to protect their systems from unauthorised access and unintentional error if any.

Collaborating with government

For his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Boch Systems, the local authorised distributor of ARCOS software, Mr Chima Uzomba, expressed his support to collaborate with the government and other stakeholders to fight cybercrime in the country.

He observed that the fight against cybercrime must be done through the collation of ideas from all the stakeholders in the sector to ensure that there was a collaborative approach in dealing with the issue.

Mr Uzomba said business entities and experts that dealt directly with software vendors should build relationships and work closely with vendors to review software dialogue to ensure that the cyberspace was safe for use.

He also advised stakeholders and business operators on the need to upgrade tools and create awareness of those instances and also drew their attention to character building in protecting cyberspace.
