Access Bank wins two international awards

Access Bank has won two international awards for its continuous delivery of customer centred banking services.

The awards; ‘Africa’s Best Bank Transformation’ and “Outstanding Business Sustainability” were received at the 2016 Euromoney awards for excellence and the Karlsruhe Sustainable Finance awards respectively. 

The Euromoney award was in recognition of the Bank’s progress in the enhancement of its operations through its “Winning with Service” initiative and included its commitment to raising the standards of customer experience with digital banking. The award is one of the new categories launched this year to reflect the changing nature of the global banking industry and Access Bank is the foremost winner of the award.

Similarly, the Karlsruhe Sustainable Finance award, which was presented to the Bank in Karlsruhe, Germany’s most sustainable city, is in respect of the Bank’s outstanding success in incorporating economic, social and environmental aspects into its corporate strategy and business processes. This makes Access Bank the first African financial institution to win the award in recognition of its ability to holistically embed sustainability across the financial institution.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Germany, Mr Herbert Wigwe, Group Managing Director/CEO of the Bank, said “Winning the Outstanding Business Sustainability Achievement award is a validation of Access Bank’s commitment, leadership and practice in sustainability. It is a testimonial to the unwavering support we have enjoyed from customers over the past few years and the hard work we have done in line with our quest to become the world’s most respected African Bank.”

The Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, Mr Dolapo Ogundimu, noted that the bank’s emergence as winner of the awards signalled its growing commitment to the adoption of responsible business practices and the incorporation of the various social, environmental and governance principles into every facet of its operations.
