The three were adjudged best in Technology Reporting, Oil & Gas and Komla Dumor’s Most Promising Journalist of the Year.

Mr Samuel Doe Abloddeppey’s article, ‘Technology to define future of banking’ published last year, won him the Best Report in Technology, while Mr Kombla Dotse Aklobortu’s story on ‘Why Ghana must invest oil revenues locally’ was adjudged the Best Oil and Gas report for the year under review.

Maxwell Akalaare Adombila was also adjudged the Komla Dumor Most Promising Journalist of the year for the second time for his two entries: ‘Terkper battles election year headwinds’ and ‘Economy caught in debt.’

This is the third time in a roll that Mr Aklobortu, a Western Regional Correspondent of the Graphic Communications Group, is winning the best report in Oil & Gas. He was first awarded the Best in Oil & Gas in 2015.

It is also the second time that Mr Adombila is adjudged the Komla Dumor Most Promising Journalist. In 2014, when the GJA renamed the Most Promising Journalist of the Year award to honour the late ace BBC Broadcaster, Komla Dumor, he was the first to pick it after displaying ingenuity in the 2013 assessment period.

Previous awards

Since the establishment of the paper as the business and financial newspaper of the Graphic Group in 2008, the Graphic Business and its staff have been received awards and commendations for the distinguished services and commitment to excellence.

Beyond the GJA Awards, which the team boasts of over eight so far, staff of the weekly publication have been honoured by sister awards organisers such as the Flamingo Awards by the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ).

Its layout and design had also won awards at various ceremonies meant to celebrate brilliance in newspaper designing.
