At a mini-rally of the National Democratic Congress (NDC ) at Akosombo last Thursday, which was addressed by the President,  the chiefs from Akwamu, Anum and Boso indicated that the President deserved a second term for his impressive performance in his first term.

Speaking on behalf of the three traditional councils at the well-attended rally, the acting President of the Akwamu Traditional Council, Nana Yaw Boadu, said the Asuogyaman area had benefited a lot under the Mahama administration so  the chiefs and people would demonstrate their appreciation by voting massively for the NDC on December 7.

He mentioned some of the projects the government had undertaken in the area and said the President deserved commendation.

Spiritual

In a speech that sent the NDC supporters cheering him, Nana Boadu veered into the spiritual realm.

He said on the next "Adae", the chiefs would pray for the success and development of the country.

"Adae" are sacred Sundays and Wednesdays on the traditional Akan Calendar observed every 40 days where specific rituals, including the slaughter of sheep, are performed by the chiefs to invoke the spirits of the ancestors to protect the community and deal with all persons who do not wish the community well.

Nana Boadu appealed to the President to give ministerial appointments to citizens of Asuogyaman in his next term.

He also asked the government to work out compensation for the communities which lost their livelihood during the construction of the Akosombo Dam.

'We won't fail'

Addressing the rally, President Mahama thanked the chiefs and people for the warm reception accorded him.

He promised that the government would continue to do what would bring prosperity to the people.

He urged the electorate to vote massively for the NDC on December 7.
