Unions support member battling with kidney disease
The University of Cape Coast (UCC) branch of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) and the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG),have presented GH¢40,000 to Mr Samuel Davidson, a member who has been diagnosed with a kidney disease.

Mr Davidson was diagnosed of a kidney disease last year and required GH¢ 200,000 to enable him have a kidney transplant in India, thus the contribution from his union members.
Presenting the cash to him on behalf of the two unions, Mr Steven Williams, Chairman of TEWU, said it was appropriate to lend a helping hand to him in his challenging situation.
He said the money was a monthly contribution from all the members and thanked them for their willingness to help their colleague.
Mr Daniel Egyir Arthur, FUSSAG Chairman, also assured him that the unions were solidly behind him in this challenging period of his life.
He said the money Mr. Davidson needed was GH¢ 200,000 and called on cooperate bodies, philanthropist and other working groups to come to the aid of their colleague so that he could successfully go through his kidney transplant.
He urged other members of the unions to frequently visit the hospital and do a thorough health screening so that any complications could be detected early before it worsened.
Dr Plus-Otwe, former president of UTAG and brother to the patient, who received the money on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude to the unions for the support provided.
He used the opportunity to call on the government to also pay attention to persons with kidney diseases, since the rate of infection was becoming alarming.
