CFAN launches 2017 Reinhard Bonnke Gospel Crusade

The commendable handling of the affairs of state by successive governments from different political traditions in Ghana since 1992 should pave the way for governance based on collaboration and consultations with minority parties in the interest of the country.

This says Rev John Kwesi Darku, Executive Director for Africa of Christ for All Nations (CFAN) evangelistic ministry, will ensure that future governments of Ghana feel free and uninhibited in picking the best available brains from minority parties.

Addressing a gathering of the Christian community in the Northern Region in Tamale, Rev Darku said he was of the opinion that while it is true that each party comes in with a manifesto and claims to have “the men for the job”, it had become very evident since 1992 that too many of the country’s great brains had not been brought on board in the interest of all-inclusiveness.

The Christian community gathering was held to launch the 2017 Reinhard Bonnke Gospel Crusade with Daniel Kolenda scheduled for January 26th – 29th, next year.

Among the major stakeholders are Ghana Pentecostal and Christian Council (GPCC), National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches (NACCC), the Christian Council of Ghana, the Council of Independent Churches, Women’s Aglow International and the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International.

Rev Darku said the inauguration was taking place at a time when Ghanaians had just fulfilled a constitutional duty of electing 275 Parliamentarians and a new President for the next leg of the country’s Fourth Republic.

“I don’t know about anybody but I feel very proud to be a Ghanaian at a time like this. I join all other Ghanaians to give thanks and praise to Almighty God for a peaceful and successful election. This is not the doing of man: it is the work of the Prince of Peace himself, the Lord Jesus Christ. For me, Ghana has won, and that is why we must begin to trust ourselves enough and encourage ourselves to work together,” he said.

The veteran crusade organiser used the occasion to congratulate the President-elect of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo -Addo, saying “his dedication, resilience, hard work have brought him into the seat of power at such a time like this to serve mother Ghana.”

Commendation for EC

He also had a word of commendation for the Electoral Commission, particularly its chairperson, Mrs Charlotte Osei. “No doubt she has had her baptism of fire, but we are all witnesses of the great work God has used her to accomplish in our land;” he added.

Referring to the incidents of post-election violence in some parts of the country, Rev Darku urged Ghanaians: “We need to control our emotions. The elections are over. Our favourite candidates may have won or lost at the polls. The vanquished have congratulated the victors. That is the beauty of democracy. The time, therefore, has come for us to bury our differences and come together as one nation and one people with a common destiny to make Ghana the beacon of hope in Africa”.

Pray for peaceful transition

Turning to people of the collar, he asked that they channel their prayer and fasting towards a peaceful transition.

“For us at Christ for All Nations, the most important thing is a change of the human heart. We believe that the closer the individual gets to God, the less violent he or she will be, and the less the propensity to be corrupt. A transformed person does not make it a habit to sin, to steal, to kill, to destroy. Our aim, at CFAN, in conducting gospel crusades all over the world is to multiply the number of such transformed men and women in our communities, in our countries. If we have better human beings, we shall have better nations”.

The chairman of the crusade planning committee, Rev Dr David Akonsi, Regional Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, said 50,000 Christian workers from all participating churches would be mobilised for various roles. More than 400, 000 people are expected to attend.
